WOW. I have done breath work before, but nothing compares to this experience. I was asked some. Key questions about certain felt senses in the body and was asked to scale them from 1-10. I loved Bal’s breathwork workshop. I’ve done quite a bit of breathwork before, and wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. I'm Bal Matharu

Hi, I'm Bal Matharu, an Integrative Health Practitioner specialising in breathwork, nervous system regulation, and root-cause healing and I've spent over two decades walking alongside people through their most vulnerable moments.

For more than 20 years, I served as an Advanced Respiratory Specialist within the NHS, working at senior clinical levels where I supported thousands of patients navigating complex respiratory and stress-related conditions. I learned early on that breath isn't just about oxygen, it's about safety, regulation, and the body's innate wisdom to heal.

Today, I'm completing my Ph.D. research on breathwork for somatic symptom disorders, weaving together evidence-based physiology, nervous system science, and mind–body approaches. My work is grounded in both rigorous science and lived experience.

As a certified Somatic Breathwork Practitioner and member of the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF), I've had the honor of leading breathwork sessions for international audiences as part of their global programmes, holding space for facilitators, coaches, and practitioners just like you.

I bring clinical expertise, scientific precision, and somatic wisdom into every session I offer. My approach is embodied, carefully regulated, and designed to help you reconnect with your own capacity to hold space, so you can continue showing up fully for others.

What Happens in a Breathwork Session?

Each session is a guided experience where you’ll be supported step-by-step.

We combine:

You don’t need any prior experience, just a quiet space and willingness to show up.

How often should I do breathwork?

Consistency matters more than intensity. Even short, daily practices can create powerful shifts in your nervous system over time.

There are different types of breathwork, and each serves a different purpose. Gentle, mindful breathing, where you simply bring awareness to your breath and body, is something you can practise every day. These shorter practices help you reconnect, regulate your system, and build a steady sense of safety within the body.

Deeper breathwork journeys, however, work on a different level. They can open up emotional and physiological release, which the body then needs time to process and integrate. For this reason, full breathwork sessions are not recommended too frequently, typically once every few weeks is enough, which is why we offer a once a month session.

The key is learning to work with your body rather than pushing it. Daily regulation, combined with spaced deeper sessions, creates the most sustainable and supportive change.

What if I’ve never done breathwork before?

That’s absolutely fine. Every session is somatically guided and an embodied experience, you’ll be supported every step of the way. You can slow down the breath and go at your own pace or deepen the breath to deepen the experience. You are in charge the whole time through.

Our breathwork journeys are held online to support safety, regulation, accessibility, and nervous system integrity, the core principles of BODY | MIND IQ breathwork.

Online sessions create a safe and regulated environment for somatic breathwork.

Being at home removes social pressure, allows you to stay in softness after the session without having to travel or “re-enter” the world quickly to get home.

It also allows you personalise your space in a way that supports deeper embodiment.

Online sessions make them accessible for those with fatigue, chronic symptoms, mobility challenges, or anxiety around in-person settings. And because people join from all over the world, the online format allows everyone to experience the same safe, held, and somatic breathwork journey.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, you can cancel your membership at any time. There’s no long-term commitment, just ongoing support whenever you choose to stay connected.

How long are the sessions?

Each live session lasts around 90 minutes, giving you time to settle in, connect, set your intention with guidance, breathe, and integrate the learning and experience before returning to your day

What makes BODY | MIND IQ Breathwork different from other styles?

Many breathwork sessions emphasise intense emotional release, crying, shaking, or dramatic catharsis, as the sign of “healing.” But this can push people beyond their window of tolerance and leave the nervous system dysregulated.
At BODY | MIND IQ, we use somatic, embodied breathwork rooted in physiology, respiratory science, and nervous system safety.
Our approach always includes activation and full regulation, so you leave grounded, integrated, and safe

Who is this membership not suitable for?

Somatic breathwork is powerful, but not the right fit for everyone.

This membership is not recommended for individuals who are looking for high-intensity, cathartic, or performance-based breathwork (crying, screaming, shaking) as the main goal of release
It’s also not suitable for those who are currently in acute crisis, actively unwell, pregnant and with uncontrolled medical or psychiatric conditions, or unable to participate from a safe, private space.
